- This rulebook will have rules added now and then. Please check back to this page for rule updates. Updated rules will be in bold. It is recommended you check this webpage once a week.
IDENTITY
- Your screenname cannot change during the duration of the competition. The screenname you have, must be the screenname you have in the competition.
MICROPHONES
- No uses of dynamic, headset, and condenser microphones
- No uses of fake microphones
- Thus, no microphone should appear visibly in video
- The only microphone is permissible is the microphone pre-installed internally into webcam or camcorder.
- If your webcam does not have a pre-installed mic, you must put in your description box the name/model of your webcam to verify that it is permissible to use a non-professional microphone (a very basic microphone) that DOES NOT enhance your voice. Thus, condenser and high-tech dynamic microphones are still not permissible under any condition in this competition.
VOTING
- Each contestant cannot vote for herself or himself under your contestant screenname.
DEADLINES
- All contestants must meet the deadlines of sending in video submission of performance video and question video (question video starting at Top 14 and on). No exceptions. Failure to do so will result in DQ.
- Meeting your song choice deadline is severely recommended.
CALLING IN THE SHOW
- In the final rounds, Top 14 and on, all contestants are REQUIRED to call in all Idol Search related shows on Chillin With Cree on 4pm PST / 7pm EST (performance/results). You must be able to perform LIVE on talkshoe, alldigital radio, and nowlive. It is part of the show. Perfect attendance is required for finalists for the performance show. Failure will result in DQ.
- If a contestant cannot call in at results, they must have a representative that isn't a judge/host to call in and get their results for them.

SONG CHOICES
- In the video asking for your song choices, it is 1st come-1st serve. You cannot ask another contestant to give you that song.
- You can only post ONE song choice. Once you post, it is your song choice permanently regardless of ANY situation.
VIDEOS & EDITING
- Title of video must include "Idol Search 3"
- Video intros cannot be long - it's all about the singing.
- In description box aka edit section: put the title of song, year of song, and artist. A detailed intro may be put there too.
- You must be visible in your video with you actually singing.
- Your video/singing is a one-taker in the video. You cannot film multiple takes and compile all those takes into one video.
- Once you submit a video - that permanently stays there - you cannot delete regardless of ANY situation. That entry is permanent. If you delete, it is automatic action of your withdrawal from the competition. There is no point of deleting then reuploading an entry.
- You cannot edit your audio whatsoever - no reverb, echo, equalizer, and/or any other effects.
- Top 14 and on: You are required to do a question video. It is required.
BACKTRACK OR NOT?
- It is an option to sing w/ an instrumental or sing it acapella or sing it along with the original CD recording. Instrumental is recommended. Use youtube.com, singsnap.com, or find mp3s of instrumentals. You may use Audacity (google Audacity) to change the instrumental's key to accommodate your voice.
- You may use instruments to accompany your videos.
FOLLOWING ALONG
- Look at the videos on www.youtube.com/creeingles to see all the updates to keep up with the show. Remember, this competition is orientated around Youtube. Watch the videos on Cree Ingles' youtube channel concerning Idol Search to get all updates.
NO SPECIAL FAVORS
- You cannot ask Cree or any of the judges for special favors whatsoever.
ASKING QUESTIONS
- If you do have a question, ask Cree by posting a comment in the video where Cree assigns a new challenge for the round.
FOLLOW THE RULES
- You must follow the rules. If you do not, you will be called out for it.
